Eric Foskett Award 2010
- Awarded to  Diane Evans

Eric Foskett Award 2010 awarded on Thursday 9 September in Vancouver, Canada.

The Eric Foskett Award is named after the founder of the Federation, Eric Foskett, and is presented at IFEH World Congresses. It is to be awarded to either an individual or an organisation. The criteria which are considered necessary for this award to be given include a requirement that the recipient has to have made a "unique contribution to the cause of International Environmental Health" and that recipients must have made a notable contribution to the work of the Federation by helping it to fulfil its aims and objectives.

This year’s recipient has certainly excelled in all these areas. Diane Evans who was our President from April 2002 until Feb 2004 is a member of the National Environmental Health Association (NEHA). She was formerly Director of Environmental Health at Santa Cruz County, California and served as President of NEHA from 1994-1995. Diane was, and actually still is, a great ambassador for the IFEH…something she is still very committed to. Her term of office was marked by the terms efficiency and organisation. One of her many contributions to the work of the IFEH was the creation of the Procedures Manual which was adopted in 2000. Diane believed that the Federation would benefit from having a document that would put the policies and procedures of the organisation in one place. Until that time meetings were organised and run very much on the UK system which many Member Organisations found difficult to understand. The Procedures Manual was recently placed on the Federation’s website where it is now available for all Member Organisations and officers to use. Diane’s other major contribution is as the link between the IFEH and NEHA which we very much appreciate. Those of us who have been involved with the IFEH since the beginning have always entertained the wish that NEHA would become more involved in the IFEH and perhaps, one day, host a World Congress on EH. When this happens this will be down to the work put in by Diane. Bernard Forteath, President of the IFEH who made the presentation said ‘Diane has worked very hard and selflessly for the betterment, not only of the EH profession, but of the IFEH, something which is very close to her heart.

The IFEH President Bernard Forteath had great pleasure therefore in presenting Diane Evans with the Eric Foskett Award 2010.
